Artist's notes on The Beggar Series

Ego is a receiver and a deliverer. Ego is hunger, but can also feed.

Various ideas drawn from the internet suggest activist students and intellectuals are currently regarded as having brought victimisation on themselves, through egotism, through their elitism, and a gross miscalculation of the possible outcomes of their actions. Egotism can drive us to inflate favourable views of ourselves and about our own self-importance. Hence the Bone head Series, aka The Emperor's New Clothes

In The Beggar Series I examine different aspects of begging and the sense that beggars can deceive themselves, projecting how they operate as fair through indulging a self-righteous belief that they deserve society's support. Often beggars are part of a wider business in India and there is a terrible record of mutilation etc to present child beggars in the most desperate conditions.
